Access remains the tool of choice for a generation of Developers. It’s simply the most powerful, flexible and extensible desktop relational database application available.

For younger generations, though, being tied to the desktop is no longer attractive, and that means Access isn’t their first choice. They need mobile solutions and cloud solutions that Access can’t support.

I’ve invited a small group of developers who have faced this dilema in their own careers to join us for a discussion of hurdles they encountered that led them to seek alternatives, the considerations they used to evaluate and choose alternatives, and the solutions they eventually adopted.

Please come with your own questions and ideas. This is not a gripe session about Access nor a sales presentation for alternatives. We simply need to be open and objective about where Access remains our tool of choice, and where responsible developers can adopt additional, and even alternative, tools to meet their client’s needs.
